Animal
Welfare Alliance is an I.R.S. designated
501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. Therefore,
all donations are 100% tax deductible. Our funding
is generated by private donations, grants and
our annual garage sale.
We are a shelterless facility which means we
have very little overhead. However, that means
that the volunteers who donate their time, energy
and money to foster pets must provide that care
in their own homes.
Animal Welfare Alliance
was formed in 2001 by a group of concerned Roswell
citizens determined to improve the lives of
companion animals in Chaves County.
AWA underwent a major reorganization in 2005
and its members are involved in companion animal
welfare in a number of areas.
- AWA
members serve as volunteers for the AWA Spay/Neuter
Clinic.
- AWA
members have served on an Ordinance Committee
with the City of Roswell for 3+ years to bring
about positive changes to city animal ordinances.
- AWA
members volunteer and do oversight at the
City of Roswell Animal Control facility 365
days of the year.
- AWA
members have TNR'd (Trap, Neuter, Returned)
hundreds of feral cats.
- AWA
members have fostered countless dogs, cats,
puppies and kittens at their own expense and
found them forever homes.
- AWA
members have driven many miles to relocate
dogs and cats to no-kill shelters and breed
rescue groups in and out of state.
- In
order to promote adoptions at Animal Control,
AWA members produce a weekly Pet of the Week
segment which runs in the Roswell Daily Record
and The Shopper.
We
are dedicated to curbing the overpopulation
of dogs and cats in Chaves County, N.M. We have
a very high kill rate and spay/neuter is the
only solution.
